Hearth Tax Returns 1664

| The following Hearth Tax Returns date from Michaelmas 1664 (29th September
1664). These descriptions refer to the notes made on the returns by the tax
collector:"Paup" = Pauper, hence exempt from the tax. "Stopt" = Stopped, i.e. the fireplace had been bricked up to reduce the tax. "Voyd" = Void, i.e. the dwelling was empty. |
