To the memory of Dorothy the wife of the Rev Thomas RACKETT, Rector
of Spetisbury and Charlton (married for more than fifty years). She was the
daughter of the Revd James TATERSALL, Rector of Streatham and of
St.Paul’s, Covent Garden and Lord of the Manor of Upper Gatton in Surrey, by
his first wife Dorothy De CHAIR. She died on the 11 of June in the
year 1833 aged 81 years.
Also of the Revd Thomas RACKETT, Rector of this parish during nearly
LX years. His dilgence and eminent talents were not confined to the exercise
of ordinary parochial duties, they extended themselves to the promotion and
cultivation and -- -- of the various useful arts which soften the asperity
of human nature. And of those sciences which till the mind with the most
exalted ideas of the Goodness of the Creator. He died 29 day of November
1840 near the close of his 85th year.
