MARRIAGES 1733 to 1870
Transcribed from the Parish Registers and Bishop’s Transcripts held at the Dorset History Centre and donated to the Dorset OPC Project by Kim Parker
Whitcombe Parish Registers were destroyed in a fire on 15 April 1776. Until 1780 all entries are from the Bishop’s Transcripts (BTs). Unfortunately, not all returns have survived for Whitcombe
Arranged according to the Gregorian Calendar, with the Julian year indicated to the left of the forward slash (/) in those years when the Julian Calendar, which ran from March 25th to March 24th, was in use (i.e. prior to 1752, 1751 being the transition year).
From July 1837, parties to the marriage are bachelors or spinsters, of full age, with the rank and profession of “Labourer” and resident in Whitcombe at the time of the wedding, unless otherwise stated.
