[¹] Original transcriber [Peter Collins] translated the "code" at the end of these records as "[married] at Maiden Newton". On reflection it seems more likely to mean "married by Banns, (both) parties from Maiden Newton". During the period 1739-1746 there were no marriages performed at Maiden Newton, there may have been a reason why weddings had to take place in a nearby parish. See snip of the Wraxall Parish Register for the appropriate time.
